White Rabbit candy

The other half was away last weekend and found me a treat at a local market of all places!

The lady he spoke to on the stall said that this candy is famous in China. From ready up about the product they were founded in 1943 and have been a firm favroute in China since.

Here is the WikiPedia page if you wish to read more. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rabbit_Creamy_Candy

The packet is a simple design with their white rabbit logo on the front. Each one of the sweets is wrapped in wax paper with a really pretty design running around it.

Once the wrapped is removed each one of the sweets is wrapped in rice paper. You can just see it in the photo below.

Taste wise they are chewy and do not really melt in the mouth at all. Eating a few of these will make your jaw ache! The flavour is milk with a hint of vanilla. You can really taste it on first bite but it is not overpowering like some vanilla flavours.
They are very moreish, we found ourselves going back for more! They do remind us of the more traditional buttermints minus the mint!

Overall we both loved this candy. It was a good find for I think the packet says £1.10!

Would I buy them again? : Yes if we knew where to get them.
Price : £1.10 from a market stall
Overall Rating : 10 out of 10 (perfect sweet for any time)

Cheetos x Pepsi Shuwa Shuwa Cola Corn Snack

Tasting another new flavour of crisps. This go hand in hand with the last post and the Frito-Lay Cheese Burger flavour.

I got these in an order from http://www.jbox.com an awesome website that sells anything and everything from Japan. Love it!

These are a limited edition from the Frito-Lay Japan. They are for people who like to live on the edge food wise apparently!

We are now tasting Pepsi crisps! Yes thats right, Pepsi the drink in crisp form! Here we go!

Again like the Cheeseburger ones, I blogged about earlier that packet is more than enough for two people.

The colour of the crips are totally different compared to the cheeseburger flavour. When you open the packet you do get a hint of Pepsi, but there is also another smell a sort of fatty smell a bit off putting for me.

Now here comes the freaky part, when you put them in your mouth they FIZZ yes they freaking FIZZ just like a fresh glass of pepsi. The taste does not last long at all, you get the initial hit and then a slight sourness followed by a gross corn flavor. Like a plain crisp. There is something missing but what I really cannot put my finger on it.

Overall I would not buy these again, they just seem to be lacking something after the fizz has gone. Sadly the left over packet is going in the bin.

Would I buy them again? : No
Price : $2.40 from Jbox
Overall Rating : 4 out of 10 (only giving 4 for the tangy fizz)

Frito-Lay Cheese Burger Flavor Cheetos

Tasting a new flavour of crisps today. They are the Frito-Lay (Walkers for you UK people) Cheese Burger Flavored Cheetos.

I got these in an order from http://www.jbox.com an awesome website that sells anything and everything from Japan. Love it!

These are a limited edition from the Frito-Lay Japan. They are for people who like to live on the edge food wise apparently!

First off the packet it's rather large, it's so big I had problems fitting it in the photo! So easily enough for two to share!

After battling to open the bag, I then realised that there is a pull tab on the side. I get the bag open and am instantly greeted by the smell of a big mac!!

As you can see there are all different sized nibbles in there! They remind me of Nik Naks.

We (the boyfriend and I) think we can taste the following

Mustard
Special Sauce
Cheese
Flame Griddled Burger
Gherkins (Pickles)
and Onion

Now as flavours go this one is up there on the list for being a tad different. They got the taste of a mcdonalds right down to a t. And i'm not someone who eats them every often at all. We also noticed on the packet there is a large glass of pepsi and decided to taste the two together, and well it works. Its just like eating a burger with a drink!

So bizarre, they aren't something I would normally eat yet we have found ourselves dipping our hands back in the bag over and over "just so find out if we can work out another flavour of course".

These are by far the most unusual chips I have ever tried, and I really enjoyed them, I think due to the fact they are so out there. I would say if you see them anywhere  get them you might be surprised by the taste!

The after taste is just like the special burger sauce mcdonald's use. You can really taste it. I wonder if they worked along side them to get the flavour?

Would I buy them again? : YES! These are just so amazing and morish!
Price : $2.40 from Jbox
Overall Rating : 8.5 out of 10

Maciek Adwokat Chocolate Bar

Whilst wondering around Tesco today I stumbled across the foreign food section. Had a look and found some Polish chocolate bars. Decided to only get one as it stood out far more than the others. The flavor states to be Adwokat a very nice alcoholic eggy liquor!

For 39p I had to try it!

Cutting the chocolate in half was a tiny bit tricky as you can see from the photos below, the chocolate is quite thin and cracked and broke under the pressure of the knife. I was expecting the filling to be a lot more yellow, like on the package. When I had a look it was more of a dirty yellow color. A little bit off putting.

Now on to the best part, the tasting!

The chocolate its self was overly sweet and on the cheap side. Not that great at all. As stated above it crumpled easily. Not for the heavy handed!

The filling on the other hand was not too bad at all, but it did seem to remind me more of Baileys than Advokat.....

There was a rather pleasant alcoholic after taste which lasted quite a while. Not overly strong like you would get from let’s say a pure liquor chocolate, but still pleasant none the less.

Would I buy them again: No - But willing to try others in this range.
Price:36p
Overall rating: 4 out of 10 - Chocolate a little bit to sweet and on the cheap side.

Meiji - Cho Himo Q - Cola & Soda laces

I recently made a purchase from Oyatsu Cafe in my box of goodies, I got the Cho Himo Q soda laces, they state they are 126cm which I find very exact!

Half of the laces are cola and the other half is soda I'm guessing Ramune.

Upon opening the pack, the smell hits you. Its not pleasant if I'm honest. Overly chemical with a hit of cola in the background.

On to the taste test! The blue area (soda) has a slight ramune taste where as the brown (cola) has a much nicer taste, the cola flavour is not too strong.
There is a strange coating on the sweet I am guessing to stop it sticking to things.

Well I have devoured the laces! Over all enjoyable, but I don't think I would ever get them again!

Would I buy them again: No
Price: £1.65

Welcome!

Hi!

First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to have a read of this here blog!

I'm not easily influenced by Labels or Signs whilst out shopping, saying NEW OR LIMITED EDITION or THIS IS THE ONLY ONE LEFT OUT OF 100 MADE....

So I have decided that rather than buying random/unusual treats I find when out and about, I would make a more permanent reminder and slap them on the good ole Internet ;)

I will be covering food from all over the world, not just sweets but savoury as well.

So please join me on this Fantastical Journey of Fantastical Feasts and where I found them!

Here is a preview of some of the things I am going to be blogging about in the near future.
