So now they have come back with a new chocolate bar range for the British market.
There are currently two flavours Millionaire's Shortbread which contains caramel and shortbread biscuit pieces and then Chocolate Nice and Cream, which features villiana cream and chocolate sauce.
The other half managed to find these at our local mini supermarket and got them for me. The had both available so he got me one of each!
I decided to try the Millionaire's Shortbread first, I have a love for caramel and chocolate! I had high hopes, when opened the bar has 4 pieces, each one has the Wonka W on a corner with a small ripple effect.
On the packet the bar is described as being 50% caramel filling, containing 6% biscuit pieces.
Upon cutting into the bar, I was disappointed to find that it is not infact caramel as we know inside the bar, but a soft caramel impersonator! There was no thick runny caramel filling or biscuit base which everyone has come to know and love with Millionaire's Shortbread.
To me the "caramel" looks more like smooth peanut butter! Moving on to that, the taste is sweet, I mean so sweet. Not my sort of thing. The chocolate is the normal Nestle smooth chocolate. Nothing new or amazing there! There is a hint of a caramel taste, and you do get the crunch of the tiny biscuit pieces.
It also smells sickeningly sweet, I mean I might have to move it away from me it smells that strong. Not a massive fan of the smell of overly sweet things.
Overly not that impressed with the Millionaire's Shortbread. left me feeling a little sick, its rich and nothing like the Millionaire's Shortbread we have come to know and love.
Would I buy again: No
Price: 90p from local mini market
Overall Rating : 4 out of 10 (left me feeling a bit sick)
Next up we have the Chocolate Nice and Cream Bar. This bar is described as having a 30% smooth vanilla creme filling topped with 15% chocolate sauce.
Upon opening this packet I was greated what I first thought were mini hot air balloons! I looked again and I think they look like little puddings with a topping with the little Wonka W sitting behind it.
Cutting in to the bar, I noticed that there are vanilla seeds running through the creme, and there is a bit more chocolate sauce than I thought there would be. I guess that is what the "hot air balloons" are for. Just like its counterpart, this was a very sweet tasting bar, again to sweet for me. The chocolate filling was sticky and not too bad. The creme, is like a rich icing sugar paste. I guess thats what makes it so sweet.
I had to move this one away as well, due to the smell being to sweet!
Again with this bar, I am not overly impressed. Its too sweet and just does not seem to fit in the with the Wacky Wonka image many of us have come to love.
Would I buy them again? : No
Price : 90p
Overall Rating : 5 out of 10 (mainly for the chocolate part)
